Easiest way to understand it is like this x^1/3 is the same as cube root(x)
So in this case: cube root(4) * cube root (16)
Now with radical rule we can combine 4 and sixteen under the same cube root.
So: cube root (4*16)
Or cube root (64)
And simplify = 4
Because 4^3 = 64
