Formula for area of a square

2. Find the area of the unshaded region ([tex]A_{2}[/tex])

[tex]A_{2}[/tex] = X(biggest square)+ 2.Y(smallest square)

⇒[tex]A_{2}[/tex] = [tex](6[/tex]×[tex]6)[/tex] + [tex]2(4[/tex]×[tex]4)[/tex]

⇒[tex]A_{2} =36+2.(16)[/tex]

⇒[tex]A_{2}=68[/tex] square units

3. Find the difference of [tex]A_{1}[/tex] and [tex]A_{2}[/tex]

Area of the shaded part = [tex]A_{1}[/tex] - [tex]A_{2}[/tex]

= 100-68

= 32 square units.

Hence, The area of shaded region is 32 square units.
