Unless he's under 18 I feel like his parent's are acting like helicopter parents trying to know and control every existing aspect of poor Chris's life hence why he left to hitchhike. However if he's under the age of 18 I feel that even if he does have overprotective helicopter parent he can't choose to run away until he turns 18
