The fourth grade students are running a food drive. They want to collect 1,000 cans of food. They need to collect 8 times as many cans as they already have in order to reach their goal. How many cans do they already have? Please explain how you got your answer.

Sagot :

8x=1000
Divide by 8
X=125 cans
You have to settle up an equation to find how many cans they already have, which would be x. Then once you have the equation you solve for x, which in this case would be 125.
1000÷8=125 and you would have to set up an equation to show your work if you needed to.
