Parts of Speech
Parts of speech are categories of words that have the same grammatical behaviour.
Noun - person, place or thing (ex. I have a pencil)
Verb - an action word (ex. Jack runs)
Pronoun - a word that replaces a noun (ex. He wrote)
Adjective - a word that describes a noun (ex. It was beautiful)
Adverb - a word that describes a verb (ex. He ran quickly)
Preposition - a word/words used before a noun that describes the direction, time, place or location (ex. I went after she did)
Conjunction - a word/words that connects two phrases together (ex. I did the dishes and they wiped the counters)
