Read the story Grandparents:

Olinda loved visiting her grandparents every summer, and she looked forward to going this summer when school gets out. Her grandparents lived in a cabin in North Carolina, so it was a long trek from her home in Mississippi. They always had special treats like candy and popsicles for her and her brother. Her grandmother was quite the gourmet chef, too. They had the most delicious feasts when they went to visit. Every meal was something new and special.

Her grandfather loved to tell stories of his childhood. His father drove a produce truck and made deliveries all over their small town. As a young boy, Olinda's grandfather would ride in the back of the truck eating as much fruit as he could before his father's last run of the day. Listening to her grandfather's stories made Olinda's heart smile and her imagination soar. It also helped that he was quite funny and entertaining.

One Saturday afternoon day, Olinda's mother walked into her room with some startling news. She told Olinda that she would have to share a bedroom with her brother from now on because her grandparents were coming to live with them. Her grandparents would sleep in Olinda's room. Naturally, Olinda was very upset. She had absolutely no interest in sharing a room with her brother. He was, like most thirteen-year-old boys, so messy and stinky. Her bedroom was immaculately clean, and his was the complete opposite. She could not fathom having to share this space with him. Not to mention her privacy, and as a fifteen-year-old girl, privacy was a big deal! After thinking about and dwelling over the situation, Olinda told her parents that she didn't want her grandparents to move in with them.

Her mother was saddened by Olinda's attitude. She expected more from her daughter. She explained to Olinda that her grandparents needed help taking care of themselves, which is why they were moving in. She explained that Olinda could learn from her grandmother, how to cook delicious meals, and her grandfather could teach her how to tell great stories. Olinda definitely loved the sound of that. She realized at that moment, that it would be worth sharing a room with her brother after all. Now, she was really excited about having her grandparents so close and being able to spend more time with them.

Answer:

d. The narrator tells the reader that Olinda loves visiting her grandparents, but at first, she is not excited about them moving into her room.

Explanation:

We see that in the begining of the passage it states "Olinda loved visiting her grandparents every summer, and she looked forward to going this summer when school gets out. " Meaning she loves her grandparents. Then towards the end, it states "She told Olinda that she would have to share a bedroom with her brother from now on because her grandparents were coming to live with them. Her grandparents would sleep in Olinda's room. Naturally, Olinda was very upset." Which explains our answer perfectly.

When we look at option A. it states Olinda explains she doesn't want her grandparents to move in because they are messy, and she doesn't like spending time with them which Is false as we have proof in the statment i provided. This option is emidietly eliminated

When we look at option B. it states Olinda explains that her relationship with her grandparents is fun and entertaining, but she is not happy that they are moving in. This is all correct, however, olivia herself did not explain how she loves her grandparents the narrator did. This option is then eliminated.

When we look at option C. it states The narrator tells the reader that Olinda is really excited about her grandparents moving in, and she has no problem with it. Clearly she was NOT excited about this changes because the narater stated "Her grandparents would sleep in Olinda's room. Naturally, Olinda was very upset."

Which leaves us with the last option being the correct option
