Answer: My belief regarding war and a christian's participation in war is that Most Christians believe that war should be avoided if possible, and should only be undertaken if all efforts to resolve an issue by peaceful means have failed.The Bible does not give Christians a clear answer about whether war is permitted or not, but it has a lot to say about justice, the sanctity of life, the importance of resolving conflict and working for peace.

There are many promises in the Old Testament that war will come to an end in the perfect Kingdom of God.
In Isaiah it states:
They shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks; nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.

Christians are told by St Paul in Romans to support the state:
For the same reason you also pay taxes, for the authorities are ministers of God, attending to this very thing. Pay all of them their dues, taxes to whom taxes are due.
