I am having surgery in the next few weeks. What are the important questions that I need to ask my doctor before the surgery?

Explanation:

Ask him what day and time you have to be where

What should you bring, clothing, paperwork IDS cards

If you have not been there get good directions and the phone number of the doctor and his office

Tell him what existing meds you may be on in case they may not cope with this surgery.

How long will it take?

How much time will you be in the hospital  post-surgery

Should you eat or drink anything before this surgery happens usually it is.            " NO " you can drink water.

How long will you be out of work if you have a job...

How will your life change, will you lose anything like walking or picking up things with your hand? or will you have constant pain or gain weight?

Will there be a lot of pain after surgery YES !!!!!!! Tylenol did not cut it !!!

Ask him what is he going to do like what is he going to cut

is he going to be using microscopic technologies (like making 3 cuts and taking out my appendix and then gluing shut and leaving a very clean and tiny line?)

Or is he going to cut tendons (and leave 159 stitches and stop you from working for two years as you need a lot of Occupational Recovery and Physical Therapy cos you can't use your hand at all?)

Find out if he is going to put you on drugs cos of this and the side effects if any.

And HOW LONG does she or he expect you to heal ???
