In the story two 14 fourteen year old boys named as Jimmy and Paul were friends.

One day Paul invited Jimmy and his friends for hiking.

On this Jimmy's mom got extremely upset. She thinks that Paul was a bad boy because he once stole from a store and was from a reform school. Thus, she didn't wanted her son to play with Paul.

On this Jimmy had argument with Mrs. Swanson as he considered Paul as his best friend. Jimmy decided not to listen to his mom because he strongly disagrees from his mother's opinion.

Mrs. Swanson did not trust Jimmy's friend Paul and was judging him on what she had heard.  She did not want Jimmy to go to the hike with Paul. On the other hand, Jimmy as a supportive friend of Paul and strongly disagrees with his mother.
