The Central Carbon
What is Fischer's projection?
It is a method that represents the three-dimensional structures of molecules on a single page. These are a convenient way to represent the molecules and distribute them between the pairs of enantiomers. These are very often used to represent isomers of sugars.
The Fischer Projection consists of horizontal and vertical lines, the horizontal lines represent atoms that are pointed out of the plane and the vertical line represents atoms that are pointed away from the plane. The intersection point of the horizontal line and the vertical line represents the central carbon.
