What is Food?

This is defined as a substance which is usually eaten and provides the necessary nutrients needed for the survival and growth of organisms. It is mostly naturally occurring and are present in most autotrophs found on earth.

The seeds are largely impermeable to water so as to ensure its viability and also have very small pore spaces which is why it wasn't able to absorb adequate water unlike in leaves which have the ability to promote osmosis as a result of the semi-permeable membrane.

This is the reason why it was therefore chosen as the most appropriate choice in this context.
