Axial loading stress question?

So there's this problem on my homework that wants you to find the original length of a rod that's being pulled down by a pulley and weights.

The given's are
'The loading creates a normal strain in the rod given by ϵz=0.045z^(1/2), where z is measured in inches'
Also, 'This strain corresponds to the total deformation in the rod given by ΔB=2.45in .'

I'm kind of stumped though since the first hint says to find an equation for dz' and I'm not entirely sure how to that either :(
