can some help me. In this activity, you will:

Take a career interest assessment.

Step 2: Review career readiness skills

Employers want to hire people who possess career readiness skills. Here is a brief description of some of the top desired skills.

Have you ever been to a job interview? During a job interview, the potential employer will ask you questions in order to find out if you have some of these skills.

As you read the items below, think about how these skills might be helpful for the career that you have selected.

Communication - Someone who can write, read, listen, and speak in a professional manner appropriate for their chosen workplace.

Networking - Someone who can interact with other people in order to get a job or develop their professional skills.

Enthusiasm and Positive Attitude - Someone who is interested and eager, seems like they enjoy the work and workplace. They are supportive of others in an encouraging way.

Teamwork - Also called being a ‘team player.’ Someone who can practice social skills like listening to others' ideas, divide up work fairly, help to train others, and even ask for help when they need it.

Problem-Solving and Critical Thinking - Someone who can participate in a process to find solutions to issues. They might help find the cause of the problem, research possible ways to solve it, and/or set up the fix for the problem.

Professionalism - Employers want someone they can rely on. Someone who is responsible, provides high-quality work, and shows initiative to help others.

Step 3: Evaluate your skills for your chosen career

Pretend that you are on a job interview for the career you chose from the career assessment you took above. In this interview you have been asked to share your experiences. The interviewer would like to hear about when you would demonstrate TWO of the following career readiness skills in this new position:

Communication

Networking

Enthusiasm and Positive Attitude

Teamwork

Problem-Solving and Critical Thinking

Professionalism

Paragraph 2:

Introduce the second career readiness skill that you have demonstrated (you listed it above in paragraph 1).

Share a situation related to the career readiness skill that occurred at work, home, school, or community.

Discuss the steps that you took to help the situation using the career readiness skill.

Identify how the career readiness skill helped you to resolve or improve the situation.

Example:

My chosen career field is nursing. Nurses need to have a positive attitude and be good problem solvers. I have demonstrated the skill of positive attitude and enthusiasm with my aunt. She was feeling very overwhelmed at her job because she was trying to take on too much but at the same time, she needed to go to doctor’s appointments for some health issues. I helped to encourage her by sending her inspirational messages and reminders whenever she had doctor appointments. Whenever she was feeling down, I would tell her to take care of herself first. She said that my messages helped to give her the strength to carry on each day. I really enjoy encouraging others.

Another skill that I have demonstrated is problem-solving. One day when I was babysitting my 3 cousins, the kids lost their favorite toy. The youngest was really upset and crying. I told my cousins to each pick a section of the apartment to search for the toy. Then I picked a section to search. One of my cousins found the toy under a bed. I’m glad I was able to focus all of the kids and give them a task to help and solve the issue.
