Step 1: Choose a Career
Pick a career that interests you from one of the creative career clusters:

Arts, Audio/Video Technology, and Communications
Hospitality and Tourism
Marketing, Sales, and Service
To help you choose a career to focus your speech on, you could review the lessons, brainstorm with a friend, or search for a term such as “hospitality careers” or “arts career pathways” online.

Step 2: Research the Career
Research the career. And if you know someone who works in this career, you might want to ask them questions!

Find the answers to these questions and record them in a word processing document:

What kinds of daily tasks do people in this career do?
What are the working conditions like for this career?
What is the average salary or hourly wage for this career?
What benefits do people typically get with this career?
Are people in this career usually employees, freelancers, or entrepreneurs?
Why did you choose to investigate this career?
Step 3: Draft Your Speech
Open a word processing document and write a script for your speech. It should describe the most important and interesting information you found. Use the bulleted items in Step 2 to guide you. Your speech should be around 300 words long.

Step 5: Reflect on Your Work
Open a new word processing document and answer the following questions:

Are you interested in the career cluster you researched? Why or why not?
If so, what strengths or experience do you have that would help you work in this cluster?
What can you add to your career portfolio that demonstrates your strengths related to this cluster? If any.
