Creative Fundraising Online
Assignment Overview
Crowdfunding is one of the more recent innovations in the 21st century helping to support the creative endeavors of individuals and groups. It is a great way for independent artists to raise funds for their special projects.

Carrie is a singer and songwriter and wants to raise funds to record her first extended play (EP) album of five songs. She has been performing regionally and has a small Facebok fan base with 471 likes and growing. This is her first time using a crowdfunding source and she's unsure of the best way to set up her crowdfunding campaign.

Assignment Directions
For this project you will need to compare and contrast two different crowdfunding sources, Kickstarter (www.kickstarter.com) and Indiegogo (www.indiegogo.com), and decide which one would be best for Carrie.
Describe each site, including the type of projects they support and their rules are for soliciting and receiving donations. Also, describe the fees each company charges and the type of support they offer individuals for their campaigns. Based on this information and Carrie's needs, indicate which program you think would be best for her and explain your recommendation.

After you have chosen the crowdfunding source for her, search that site for other projects in the category “Music EP” and explore at least 10 projects. Pay attention to the amount of money they aim to raise with their campaign, and whether they succeeded in hitting their goal. Based on this information, decide how much Carrie should try to raise. After looking at some of the Pledge Rewards for these campaigns, create a list of rewards for five levels of pledge rewards from $10-$500.
