Read p. 244–251 in Writing with Power.
Complete Project Prep on p. 244 to draft a thesis statement. Be sure to use the information you’ve collected and created thus far.
Draft an introduction for your essay. Use the Here’s How box on the top of p. 245 as a guide to creating your introduction.
Using the organizer you created in Lesson 3, draft the body of your essay. Follow the order of organizer and include all of the points you listed. Be sure you provide smooth transitions from sentence to sentence and paragraph to paragraph. This will make editing your essay later on a little easier.
Draft the conclusion of your essay. Your conclusion needs to leave a lasting impression on your audience, so use a clincher sentence that will stick in the mind of your audience. A clincher sentence refers to an idea in the introduction and fixes the mind of the reader on the main idea of the essay.
