Ballard, who first discovered the wrecked ship in 1985, doesn't want to restore the ship completely. Instead, he
wants to put a protective layer of special paint on the ship. Currently, large patches of rust are growing on it. If left
untreated, the Titanic could fall apart. Ballard believes painting the ship could delay its destruction for decades.
The process would involve special robots currently used to paint supertankers. But the job would be expensive,
and officials have yet to determine who would actually pay for it!
