Can someone revise my prayer poem
The Lord knows me.
Knows I am a daughter, a sister, and a friend as everyone knows.
Only He knows how I find joy in Chess. Chess, the game of the mind.
Every move, every checkmate is detailed. The sound of the clock, each move I make, is thrilling.
Sundays, the day I share my joy along with my family. It is the day of prayer and for us, also the day for the game of the mind.
Laughter, teasing, and footsteps can be heard all day along with the sound of the clock. How joyous of a day it is.
I remember, one Sunday afternoon, watching a game between my parents.
“Checkmate!”, my mom's face fills with joy and my dad’s with joy as well.
I wondered, how could my dad be happy still? He had lost.
Now, I know it wasn’t losing that made him happy. It is the joy of the people surrounding him at the moment.
Chess, a game of the mind, a game I only figured out 2 years ago, a game my family now bonds over.
Guide them towards the joy chess has given us. Help them experience the moments chess has brought upon us.
We are so thankful for your powerful actions, Lord. Our words and prayers are simple compared to yours but trust that we mean it.
Whether it be through a holiday or a simple Sunday gathering playing chess, bring us together so that we may rejoice together.
Like chess, there will be losses and wins throughout life. Like chess, we will gain and lose pieces that bring us together as a game. We can only hope that these gains and losses will strengthen us.
Lord, however you may do it, please give every family their own version of what chess means to my family
We know you are masters of actions and words, help us do the same. In your name, we pray, Amen.
