Max had won the school science fair the last two years. No one had ever won it three years in a row, and Max wanted to be the first.
He knew that he had a good project - one that would give him an excellent chance of winning. He just needed to have it work right.
Max had "invented" his own chicken feed. His project was going to show that chickens that ate his special Max-meals would grow bigger and
faster. He fed ten chickens on his farm his food, and ten other chickens that were the same age the food from the feed store.
Today was the day to collect his results. He started weighing the chickens that had eaten regular food. He wrote each weight in a table. Then
he began weighing the chickens that had grown up on Max-meals. The first one he checked weighed less than any of the other birds. It's only one
bird thought Max. However, by the time he was done weighing chickens, not one of his special formula birds weighed as much as any of the other
birds.
Max looked at his numbers and thought about what they meant to his science fair project. If only the numbers were the other way around
his project would be a success.
