(Read full instructions.) Write a letter as if you were a soldier fighting for the British in the trenches before the Battle of Somme. Your letter should be written to your mother and describe the conditions in the trenches. Your reason(s) should be from in the trenches, etc, before the battle of Somme took place. In addition to describing the conditions, your letter should describe how you feel about the "Going over the top" into "No man's Land" before the Battle of Somme. Be creative and make your letter as realistic and heart-felt as possible. Remember: you are trying to paint a picture of life in the trenches before crossing into "No Man's Land'! YOUR LETTER SHOULD BE AT LEAST 10 SENTENCES LONG!!
