PLEASE PLEASE HELP NEED ANSWER FAST

Lia was in the basement watching television. Her sister came in the room and said it smells like gas. Lia admits to passing gas, and the sister leaves the room while Lia just sits there watching television.

My question is, why did Lia just continue sitting there when the sister left after complaining of the gas smell.
