The four salts (A, B, C, D, E, F) contain five chemical elements. With the interaction of all
of salts with an aqueous solution of alkali, K gas is formed, which has a pungent smell.
All salts decompose at high temperature without forming a solid residue. During the decomposition of the salts, in addition to K gas and water vapor, five different gases are formed.
The decomposition process for one of the four salts can occur in two different chemical reaction equations. In result decomposition of salt A produces only gases K and L, the densities of which differ by 2.147 times. A gaseous simple substance M is released during the decomposition of two different salts B or C, which are formed by the same chemical elements, but the molar mass of B is 1.25 times greater than the molar mass of C.
Gas H can be formed only from salt G, which is the only one of
of four salts, formed by atoms of four chemical elements. Gas densities N
and O are the same, but gas O can be obtained from salt B, the molar mass of which is the largest of molar masses of the four studied salts. In one of the reactions of the decomposition, in as a result of which gas M is released, gaseous simple substance P is also formed.
1. Define salts and gases. Name all substances.
2. Make five reaction equations for the decomposition of salts. Specify the flow conditions of each of the reactions.
One of the studied salts is widely used in production of explosive mixtures for power plants. In 2013, employees of Sandia National Laboratories
announced the development of a safe and effective medicine based on the mixture
above-mentioned salt with FeSO4·7Н2О.
3. Suggest the field of use of this salt or the appropriate mixture of it with FeSO4·7Н2О.
