Perseverance or the martian rover was designed by NASA as a part of the NASA Mars 2020 mission. The rover is an up-gradation over its predecessor Curiosity and has added features accompanying it. The rover is a unique masterpiece that would be instrumental in detecting ancient life on planet Mars.

The rover contains a mini-helicopter “Ingenuity” which is for technology demonstration purposes but could prove to be extremely critical for future missions provided the technology is fruitfully demonstrated. The helicopter could extend the physical search area covered in comparison to the rover which has a limited coverage area.

The rover also has adequate equipment to test the oxygen-producing capacity from the Martian atmosphere. This could prove to be extremely critical for future crewed missions to Mars and other planets.
