Boat People, also called the Vietnamese boat people, were the refugees who managed to flee from the communist Vietnam in a boat or a ship right after the Vietnam War in 1975  ended. Most of those refugees were Hoa people. Most of the immigrant population went through this  around 1978 but it in fact continued until the 1990s.
