x + y = 200

i.e. x = y -24 substitute this into the above equation you get

y - 24 + y = 200
2y = 224
y = 112
x = y - 24
x = 112 - 24
x = 88

So 2 pieces are 88 cm and 112 cm in length

To check its correct 112 + 88 = 200 cm = 2m
And 112 - 88 = 24 cm
