If a statement is not true, explain why. Show your work.

(a) Kellie’s minutes per mile pace was faster than Ashley’s minutes per mile pace.
(b) Kellie ran 8 mph.
(c) Ashley ran 12 mi in 90 min.
(d) Ashley’s total time was 4 min slower than Kellie’s total time after they ran 9 mi.

Sagot :

A is obviously not true since if you divide it Ashley runs faster. since Kellie runs 7.5 minute miles and Ashley runs 8 miles per hour.  This is found by simple division
B I am not sure if you swapped the names accidently but Kellie runs a mile every 7.5 minutes and Ashley runs a mile every 8.0 minutes
C Is not true because if she ran 3 miles every 30 minutes then 3 miles would be left over.
D Here my math for this one.  Ashley runs 8 minute miles, Kellie runs a 7.5 minute mile.  8x9 = 72  7.5x9 = 67.5  72-67.5 = 4.5  So its not 4 minutes, since Kellie is actually slower than Ashley.  But as I said, maybe the names were swapped.

Hope this helped.
