Recycling is an important part of protecting our Earth's natural resources, such as trees, clean air, and water. We can make a difference in the world by having recycling a part of our daily routines and habits. Recycling can reduce the amount of waste we dump into landfills each day. For example, more than 80 trillion aluminum cans are used each year. If thrown away, the cans could create a lot of waste. If the cans were recycled, then landfills would not fill up as quickly and fewer new resources would be needed. Besides aluminum, paper also can be recycled. Recycling paper can reduce the number of trees that must be cut down to make new paper. If people recycled every newspaper, 250 million trees could be saved each year.
