How to make a mixed fraction

Sagot :

Divide the numerator by the denominator.
Write down the whole number answer. Then write down any remainder above the denominator. For instance if it's 11/4 so you now it's a improper fraction so now you divide which gives you 2 3/4
                              Hope this helps:)
To make an improper fraction into a mixed number you divide the numerator by the denominator and keep the same denominator for your answer and for numerator you put the reminder when you divide it.

For Example, you want to turn [tex] \frac{45}{6} [/tex] into a mixed number.

First you divide the numerator by the denominator. So divide 45 by 6. 6 does not go equally into 45 so there is going to be a remainder. The greatest number of times 6 can go into 45 is 7 times. multiply 7 by 6 and you get` 42. So 7 is your whole number. Then you subtract 42 from 45 and you get 3 So 3 is your numerator. Then you keep the same denominator which was 6 and plug it into your mixed number.  You get 7 3/6 . You can simplify that to 7 1/2
[tex]7 \frac{3}{6} = 7 \frac{1}{2} [/tex]
