PLEASE HELP FIGURE OUT HOW TO DO THIS! THANK YOU!

Given that y is proportional to x what linear equation can you write if y is 16 when x is 20?

A.) y=20x

B.) y=5/4x

C.) y=4/5x

D.) y=0.6x

Show how you solve this please
I GIVE THANKS!!!

Sagot :

y=16  x=20
 put these values in equation and see rifht or wrong

A) 16 ≠20*20 wrong
B) 16 ≠ (5/4)*20 - wrong
C) 16=(4/5)*20 - right
D) 16≠0.6*20
Answer: C) y=4/5*x
y : x is the same as y/x substitute 16/20= y/x cross multiply 20 y= 16 x y= 16x/20 reduce the fraction y= 4/5x
