• What is the Doppler Effect? How can the Doppler Effect be useful for a forensic investigation involving a shooting? • If you found a firearm at a crime scene, what steps would you take in order to transport the weapon to the lab? This is for my forensic science class.

Sagot :

The Doppler Effect is when sound waves become stretched behind a moving object. This is applicable in ambulances in which frequencies matter with distance from the person hearing. This is useful for a forensic investigation involving a shooting because witnesses can Identify a firearm by the sound it makes.

Doppler's effect can be defined as the increase or decrease in the frequency of the waves, such as the sound waves and light waves when the source moves closer or farther away from the source.

In forensic investigation of a crime involving a shooting, the Doppler effect is useful in determining how far the shooter was. By determining the distance from which the shot was fired, it can be concluded whether the crime was a suicide or homicide or in self-defense.

In order to transport the weapon used in the crime to the lab by carefully packaging it in a paper bag. The trace evidence, such as hair, or blood, that may be present on the weapon must be packaged separately. The packaging should be labeled and then transported to the lab. It should be made sure whether the cartilage is empty or not. The safety of the weapon should be on while delivering it to the lab for analysis.
