The new shapes have 7 sides and seven vertices in all.

She cut from one vertex of rectangle to a point of opposite side of rectangle.

We get two shape one with three side and one with four sides

Therefore, Total side of the two shapes would be  3+4 = 7

Triangle has three vertices and Quadrilateral has four vertices.

Triangle would be right angle triangle.

Quadrilateral would be trapzium.
