if you push very hard on an object but it does not move, have you done work

Sagot :

work is the use of force to move an object some distance, you do work only when you exert a force on an object and move it. so if it didn't move, thats not work.
No you have not done any work. To have done work, you have to measure your force and the distance that the object moves. If it did not move, an exanple being trying to push a wall, it is not scientifically work even though it feels like you worked.
