Hitler, as soon as he conquered france he began construction of a wall that would surround continental europe lined with several artillery points. These Artillery points made it extremely hard for England and America to chose a spot to invade. But eventually they chose Normandy. Additionally, the Artillery points at the strait between england and france were capable of firing missiles into england.
