While waiting for this patient to be transported, what should Avery do about the bleeding in his ear? Use a medical pen to cauterize the ruptured blood vessel. Let the ear bleed as it needs to be exposed to the air. Stuff the earlobe full of cotton or gauze and tape it into place. Gently cover the bleeding ear with a dressing to protect from infection.
