Data, Data Everywhere
Review the requirements for completing the project. This project is worth 50 points.
Goals
We live in a world where we are bombarded with data every day. Sometimes a table or graph summarizes data values and sometimes a single number or statistic summarizes data values. How do you know what the summarized data mean? What is a graph or number telling you?
For this project, you will analyze and then compare two related data sets of your choosing.
First you’ll use the Internet to find two sets of numeric data to compare. Then you’ll construct a frequency table or a box plot to help you organize the data, construct statistical graphs, find measures of center and spread, and create a statistical summary of the data. Finally you’ll reflect on your findings.
Schedule of Completion
Day 1: Collect and Organize Numeric Data
Day 2: Find Number Summaries
Day 3: Construct Box Plots
Day 4: Analyze and Compare Data Sets
Day 5: What Does It All Mean?
