Find the solution to the system of equations blue line is y=2x+3 and red line is y=-x

Sagot :

Answer: (-1, 1) or x = -1 and y = 1

Step-by-step explanation:

    I will show two ways to solve this system of equations. However, there are many ways you can go about finding the solution.

    The first is graphing. See the attached image, where I have graphed both of the given equations. The point of intersection is the solution. This gives us an answer of (-1, 1).

    The second method I will share here is substitution. We will substitute the second equation into the first using y = -x. Then, we can substitute our value of x into the equation for y to find y. Again, this gives us x = -1 and y = 1.

         y = 2x + 3

         -x = 2x + 3

         -3 = 3x

         x = -1

         y = -x

         y = -(-1)

         y = 1
