UNIT 2: ARTICLES OF THE CONSTITUTION

In this unit, we discussed the Articles of the Constitution. We broke down the meaning of the Preamble, the 3 Branches of Government, and the Checks and Balances that each branch has over the others.

1) Why did the Founding Fathers add the Preamble to the Constitution? What is the goal?

2) Know the characteristics of each branch of government:

- Executive: Who is in charge, what is the succession of power, what can and can't they do? etc.

- Judicial: Who is in charge, what is their job, how is the judicial system set up? etc.

- Legislative: Who is in charge, how many people make it up? etc.

UNIT 3: AMENDMENTS OF THE CONSTITUTION

In this unit we discuss the Amendments that make up the constitution and how they protect us as citizens.

1) Review the 27 amendments and have a general idea about what each one does. Pay special attention to the Bill of Rights (first 10 amendments) and the 13th, 14th, 15th amendments.

UNIT 4: PRIMARY AND GENERAL ELECTIONS

In this unit we discussed the creation of American political parties, the election process, and what it means to be an American Citizen.
