Parallelism


PURPOSE: The purpose of this exercise is to strengthen your skills and confidence in identifying and correcting grammar errors. The grammar exercises align with bullets two and five under Learning Outcomes on the syllabus.

DIRECTIONS: Correct the faulty parallelism errors in the following sentences using Word’s Track Changes or retyping the sentences. Do not rephrase the sentences or just delete words; fix the sentences as they are written.

GRADING: Each sentence is worth 1 point.


1. At the workshop, we were not only given coffee mugs, but also key chains with the company’s logo.

2. Carlita is better at playing softball than tennis.

3. My adviser said I should either take calculus or statistics to fulfill my math requirement.

4. For the school fieldtrip, everyone brought a sandwich and apple for lunch.
