The lecture covered justifications and excuses as defenses to avoid criminal liability. Justifications include self-defense and defense of others. Excuses include entrapment (police inducing a person to commit a crime they ordinarily would not do) and duress (defendant claims they committed the act because they were not acting on their own free will).
