While most traits do not follow Mendelian genetics, some do. Three of which in humans are having a widow’s peak, detached earlobe, and a cleft chin. All three of these traits are dominant.

Choose an abbreviation for each of these alleles (make sure you provide a key). Keep in mind that using a capitalized letter for the dominant allele and a lower-case allele for the recessive allele is not necessary, and in fact, isn’t how alleles are actually named. For example, two of the alleles for eye color in fruit flies are cn (cinnabar) and bn (brown).

Go to your parents and siblings, and note their and your phenotypes. From these, answer the following questions.

• Provide a table with your parents, siblings, and your phenotypes. Remember to provide a key listing what you named each allele.

• Make a trihybrid Punnett Square with your parents being the cross. Were you able to provide all the alleles?

• If you could not provide both the alleles for any of the traits you looked at (if you could, pretend you couldn’t), what are two ways you could obtain them? This requires you to utilize both a process from your reading and thinking about the information you have available to you due to this assignment.

The Learning Journal entry should be a minimum of 400 words and not more than 750 words.
