1) what is the meaning of commutative property?
2)what is the meaning of distributive property?
3)what is the meaning of associative property?

Sagot :

Commutative Property- is only applicable to addition and multiplication.
Like- a + b = b + a
That means we can swap numbers in addition.(The answer is the same)
a x b = b x a
That means we can swap numbers in multiplication.(The answer is the same)

Commutative is not applicable to subtraction and division as
a - b (is not) = b - a
And a / b (is not) = b / a

Distributive Property- Means we can distribute a number in to two parts and still get the same answer, applies to only addition and multiplication and-

Here lets take 2 and 4 as examples-

For addition-
2 + 4 + 3 = 9
(2 + 4) + 3 = 9

For multiplication-
2 x 4 x 5 = 40
(2 x 4) x 5 = 40

Associative Property- Means that you may change the order of the numbers but the answer is the same, much like commutative, its just that it applies to more than 3 numbers- (Addition and Multiplication only)

For addition-
2 + 3 + 4 = 9
3 + 2 + 4 = 9 also

For multiplication-
2 x 3 x 4 = 24
4 x 2 x 3 = 24 also

That's it!

    Hope I helped!

[tex]Communitive:a+b=b=a \\ a*b=b*a \\ \\ Distributive:a(b+c) = ab+ac \\ \\ Associative:(1+2)+3=1+(2+3)[/tex]
