What is the difference between an autotroph and heterotroph? include an example if each.

Sagot :

An autotroph creates its own food through photosynthesis (grass), and a heterotroph consumes their food in order to get energy (a unicorn).
Auto comes from a Greek word meaning self (like self-sustaining, self-sufficient).
Hetero means TWO or different, or other).
So autotroph gets their food from one source (the sun... ok, and water....)
And a heterotroph gets their energy source from more than one place alone.
So, think sunflower and dragon. One soaks up the sun, the other, pretty much everything that is under the sun ;)
Autotroph makes it own food energy(plants) heterotoph must got itfrm somewhere else (human).
