The battle between the two armies happened in the South western Tennessee.  Albert Sidney Johnston and Pierre G.T. Beauregard were the 2 generals of the Confederate army that led a surprising attack on the armies under General Grant. Although Johnston got killed while attacking, but Beauregard thought against further pressing of the enemy.
