In this activity, you'll do research and describe the uses of various types of sensors in robots. Next, identify and describe a list of sensors that you think will be needed for three types of robots:

a police robot to be sent into a hostage rescue situation
a volcano robot (sent into a volcano) to study temperatures, fissures and vibrations
a nursing assistant robot needed to guide patients (in a hospital) to the areas where they need to go

There are 7 common types of sensors light sensors, sound sensors, proximity sensors, tactile sensors, temperature sensors, navigation and position sensors, and acceleration sensors.

I think for a police robot I would have to say a proximity sensor and navigation and position sensors because a proximity sensor is built to let the robot know what is around them and so they don't bump into anything because a police robot might want to be quiet and not bump into things and be loud. For navigation and position, the robot can go to the hostage, and with the position, you can locate where the robot is and the real people can provide a plan.
