I beleive that kids should be at least 12 when they get their first phone. If you give a kid a phone when they're too young, they're going to use it for things they shouldn't. The battery will be constantly ran down and you won't be able to contact them if need be. If you wait until they're 15 or 16 to give them a phone, they'll be socially awkward because they are unable to communicate outside of a classroom and you still won't be able to contact them. You should give it to them when they are 12 to 13. At this point, you can teach them online safety. You can stay in contact with them when need be. And this way, they can still contact their friends
