The nucleotides in DNA molecules are transcribed to mRNA molecules.

In protein synthesis using mRNA molecules, the nucleotides are read in set of triplets known as codons.

Each codons codes for a specific amino acid.

Any mutation that results in the changes in the codons will result in synthesis of protein molecules different from the original protein.

Most mutations produce harmful effects as in such instances as:
