What is your opinion on the Treaty of Versailles? Was it too harsh? Or was it understandable given the damage caused in WWI? Give reasons for your answer

Sagot :

The Treaty of Versailles was way to harsh on the Germans. The damage caused by WW1 was serve but the allies failed to understand Germany could not even pay for war reparations let alone every damage, bullet and death they caused during the war. This would cause a weakened democratic government that screws their economy because they try to print more money to pay back this massive debt. Obviously it does not work and devalues the German mark causing high inflation rates and more poverty. This helped the rise of Hitler in Germany as he promised the German people for economic relief and prosperity. So, blaming the war all on the Germans was very irresponsible to much thought was put into it. France just wanted revenge and did not want Germany "starting" another war. Britain just wanted their money back after spending it all during WW1.
